Leeds – Relocation Project – project value - £250k

Operated as the principal external project manager, space planner, interior designer, relocation manager and client representative, providing concept layouts, working drawings, tender documentation, monitoring for quality of materials and workmanship, furniture procurement/specification and relocation management, including existing furniture, for the project in its entirety, until occupation at the agreed date.

Project size – involved relocation of approx 100 staff

Scope

Included refurbishment to office areas, existing tea points, new breakout area, existing meetings and new meeting rooms, co-ordinating re-cabling of network services and internal and external suppliers

Design

  • Provided detailed designs, space plans, including room layouts to enable budget costings to be produced
  • Designs based on user client briefs collected via consultation.
  • On sign off, these drawings together with detailed drawings with specification added enabled schedules and scopes of works to be prepared. Also included specification for any new furniture required.
  • ‘As built’ drawings issued to client to form updated master drawings.
  • Mood boards from finalised designs produced to demonstrate the look and feel of the new office accommodation

Project management

  • Controlled all aspects of on site project management including contractor procurement
  • Prepared written reports including standard project management documentation to allow adequate information for the client’s internal project meetings
  • Inspections carried out to ensure:
  • Quality of workmanship and materials
  • Fit out carried out in accordance with the contract drawings and documentation
  • Managed client’s direct contractors ensuring any works were co-ordinated across additional internal work streams
  • Co-ordinated supervision of structured cabling contactors
  • Provided financial updates
  • Responsible for the management of project budget to assist the client to get the appropriate sign off at the end of the project

Furniture procurement

  • Prepared tender documents for the provision of furniture, including loose items, fixed fittings
  • Available to answer queries from tenderers and help in the selection of suppliers
  • Supervised installation of the furniture product, snagged as necessary and signed off the installation on completion

Relocation Management

  • Formed a transition plan for the relocation of staff and furniture to the new location
  • Obtained quotations from removal companies for the relocation of furniture along with the provision of crates for personal belongings etc. Supervised the moves, signing off the new office areas prior to occupation

Local authority approval

  • Obtained all the necessary local authority approvals for the works
